 There are some who would make the claim that a Spiral is to easily distracted to be a strategist. Those people have never met Jeskai. His ability to pay attention to multiple different developing situations and adapt has proven to be invaluable to his clan as they fight the Harpy Beastclans in the efforts to rebuild their lair and build the Grand Archives. His job during any skirmishes is to watch, analyze, report, and direct. While the Vokan clan has not been in any serious encounters with the Beastclans, he has successfully defended the lair from many attacks. He was personally commended for spotting out, and countering, a harpy pincer attack ambush that would have dealt serious losses to his clan's fighting force. However, due to the rarity of serious Beastclan attacks, one of Jeskai's favorite pastimes is playing a card game known as 'Magic: the Gathering'. Its not well-known to many dragons, but he likes the strategic element to assembling a deck and then facing other dragon's decks. Jeskai favors controlling the flow of the game with quick removable spells and powerful enchantments that disrupt his opponent's flow. Most of his clanmates give up after playing more than a few rounds with Jeskai, for most of the time he has already devised a plan to change and adapt to their playstyle. His only consistent challenger is the clan's Shadow mage, Astrid. Her Black deck is crafty and skirts past his carefully constructed control and can shift her playstyle to keep him guessing. When the two of them get competitive, they can go on marathon back-to-back games that stretch out a few days, stopping only to eat, rest, and fulfill their clan duties, before returning to the game that they left off. Jeskai appreciates how Magic allows him to constantly think of new strategies and considers it good practice for his role of directing the clan's defense in times of battle.
