Biography
The low groan and squeak of the mechanical wings echoed in the den as she finished repairing the broken joints on her wings. With a sigh, the young Mirror unfolded and folded her wings, the mechanical contraption that she used to try to fly. She looked over at the Spiral that slept in a bed made of soft grass. She smiled as her mother rested soundly. Her mother was up late last night working on some of her salves, but she was finally getting the sleep that she needed. Taking a deep breath, she headed outside with a large pack. She made her way towards the forest, looking around for any scrap metal. She had found a small, abandoned mine that had plenty of scrap metal; all things she needed to create small trinkets, parts for her wings and even some new friends.
Ouwix walked in the early morning hours, the sun just barely starting to come up. This was always when she got up, and every morning, she went hunting for these parts on her own. She didn’t have many friends; mostly the ones that she accidentally brought to life. She giggled at that thought. Most of her alone time was spent making small creatures made of metal, but like her mother, she too possessed a little magic. She would sometimes accidentally bring these mechanical creatures to life, her mother having to destroy them. A loud clanking noise could be heard from behind her. She smiled and turned around to see a small, dog-like creature made of old armor. She laughed, “Come on.” She said. The creatures followed her, acting like a small dog and sniffing around for some metal as well. The good thing about the creature was magnetic, and most of the metal would stick to it. As she walked, she reflected on her life so far. Her mother had told her that she was found in these woods all alone, and that she was saved by her mother. She was raised since a Welp with her and that her mother loved her more than anything. As she walked, the mechanical wings started to squeak again.
With a sigh, she shook her head and looked at the gears that grinded noisily against each other. These were the reason that she didn’t have many friends. No one wants to be around her with these things making this awful noise. Her creature bounded around her, making her laugh again. She had her metal sculptures, but she was still rather lonely. She got to the mine and carefully gathered as much as she could. The sun was higher in the sky and the forest was starting to come alive. Birds and other creatures began to make noise and go about their day. She loved the sounds of the forest in the morning. It was always fun for her. She smiled at the day and began making her way back home. Her metal dog following her. As she got towards the border of her Clan, she turned towards the dog and shook her head, “It’s time to go back to the mine now. That’s your home remember?” She asked, laughing.
The dog gave her a sad look and she just shook her head, “I will be back in a little bit. I just need to go speak with Mother.” She said. The metal dog nodded and bounded back to the mine. She watched with a tinge of sadness as her friend bounded away. She turned back and headed to her den at the back of the Clan’s Valley. “Mother! I am home!” She yelled out.
“Ouwix! There you are!” Her Mother exclaimed. They greeted each other and began to look through what she had gathered. The metal worked well on fixing some of the more major things wrong with her mechanical wings. They even were able to start working on some of the new wings that they were making.
“Do you think I will ever be able to fly?” Ouwix asked.
Her Mother looked at her and smiled gently ,”I am sure you will.” She said. They kept working into the day.
As the day came to evening, Ouwix took the rest of the metal out and began to work in the shade. Her metal twisted together, climbing higher. She stopped it and there stood a beautiful sculpture of gold and bronze metal was before her. She started to work on making is shine. This is what she did when she was alone. She would sit and create many sculptures and creatures and other things to keep her mind off how lonely she is. She loved her Mother, but her mind would often wander back to where she came from. How had she gotten in the woods? Who were her real parents? These were questions that she would often write down on parchment that she stowed away in her bed. She loves her Mother to death, and these questions would leave her mind the moment she saw her Mother. As she focused on the sculpture, a low glowing came suddenly from around her. Her runes glowed brightly as she worked on her creation. As she finished, she put her creation with the others. A line of creations were standing proudly behind the Den. She smiled at her work and began to work on the next.
Although Ouwix didn’t have many friends, she really was content with her life. She spends her time working on her talent with metal and making things with her Mother. She loves her time in the woods alone with her creature. She is a very lucky Dragon have been able to have been able saved by her Mother, and she would never take that for granted. For now she continues her life the way it is; filled with happiness and with her work.
