Mandingueiro

Late night, Mandingueiro´s shift as a watcher was almost over when the enourmous Duna woke up and looked at him.

"It´s my turn, you can rest now, Mandingueiro" She said, quietly as always

"Did you also come from the sand?" He asked looking back at her, his eyes were strangely bright because of the moonlight and Duna shivered a bit.

"I-I´m affraid I didn´t, I´m not like my sister, she´s the one with magic here..."

"Where did you come from, then?" Sometimes, Mandingueiro would come up with questions that seemed out of context, no one was inside his head to guess what he was thinking about after all.

"A lone abandoned egg, found by Tatuí and Areia and hatched right after, not a mystery"

"Mmm...we don´t know where the egg came from...the mystery is still there" He looked at t he pit black sky and a long moment of silence made their conversation a bit awkward.

"Well lone eggs happen all the time, we have wars and...well, maybe my sister was also an abandoned lone egg, but she was chosen by the Earth to survive..." Duna started, but the Pearlcatcher stoped her by waving his claws

" What are you talking about? Lone Egg? No, Areia did come from the sand, the one that was chosen not to die was you. She would survive being cared by the desert, you, on the other hand needed a miracle and you got it..." Mandingueiro stared at Duna for some more seconds before leaving her.
"Your turn and keep the chest with you. It doesn´t sleep and tends to 'eat' things"

Duna looked over to the enchanted and weird chest that was Mandingueiro´s pet and sighed, the Pearlcatcher could be useful but he sure was a headache for the simple and gentle Imperial.
