“Sir, you’re holding up the other customers, I must insist–”

“No!” Tropical hissed, his accent becoming thicker as he banged on the counter. “She’s worth far more than 20,000 treasure! I’ll give you 21,000 for her, final offer!”

The merchant blinked. Were the rumors he had heard today from the other familiar vendors true? “Oh…uh, okay?”

His narrowed eyes became completely friendly once more as the treasure changed hands. “Thank you!”

The sun was setting by the time he skipped away from the marketplace, his new gang of familars in tow. He wondered, briefly, how his clanmates would react. What was that saying again they always tell me? That his spirit was willing, but his flesh was weak?

He locked eyes with his newest purchase–or, rather, his newest friend–and shrugged, smiling.

At least the clan would be able to fill up more of the bestiary.
