Polaris

Polaris had known since zie was a hatchling how different zie was. The rules of society, the expectations Polaris had to fulfill, none of it made any sense and Polaris knew it. Why did everyone follow such arbitrary rules, couldn't they see how weird it was? It didn't take long for other dragons to realize that Polaris wasn't going to be their shining pupil anytime soon. How badly they had named the dragon. A fixed star to guide the others, how laughable it seemed now. Especially when all the dragon did was follow Selene around. The north star following the moon, wasn't that just terribly funny.

But Polaris hardly saw it that way, or cared. Selene was kind to Polaris, always had been. And she had a dream that she was determined to follow, and zie admired that. Polaris too knew what zie wanted out of life, and that was to explore. To find others who were like-minded, who understood. Why would Polaris stick around with dragons who didn't respect zir, just because they were family. Family was such a loose concept anyway. Together they set out towards the Starfall Isles, in search of wonder.

It was there that they learned about an elegant court ruled by a gentle queen, in a palace hewn of crystal. The princess of this court, Eos, welcomed them, taught them the ways of the court. They learned of music, tea, dancing, and poetry. Their learned of magic, alchemy, and sorcery. And it was in this beautiful land that they fell in love with the princess and vowed to stay by her side. They protected her when the queen's chancellor turned against Eos, and they flew beside her as they fled to the Southern Icefield. They became her foundation as she set up a new court, and sought to give her guidance as she negotiated with the Serac Field Clan.

In this new court Polaris took on the task of overseeing the court's poets and minstrels. Poetry had captured zirs imagination, and the poets of Eos' court were good teachers. Zie became adept at the skill, and oversaw various gatherings and events to inspire the court's poets. Zie especially loved to craft new poems in the gardens that Selene nurtured. It was here that Polaris felt most at piece with the world, most at peace with zirself. This was a beautiful place, and Polaris was determined to see it stay that way.
