Biography
The sound of Welps mewling and egg shells cracking filled her mind as she walked through the Clan. It was hatchday, but the Spiral alone. Walking back towards her lonely den in the very back of the Clan’s clearing. Moss hung solemnly at the entrance. Overgrown grass and plant life surrounded the stone den. Making her way inside, she looked with a heavy heart at the empty nest. She had dreamed of many eggs laying in that nest, but now it collected dust and the grass was slowing dying. Closing her eyes, she let out a shaky sigh. It was only a few months ago that she stood here with her mate. They spoke and dreamed of having Welps together. She was excited and they had planned on beginning this journey within the next weeks. He had promised, and then he left to join the others on a hunting mission.
But he never came back. She had waited all day for him to arrive, excited to come back so they could continue planning. But as the hunting party came back, their head hung low, she knew that something was wrong. She frantically looked for him as they walked slowly in, but one Dragon looked at her and shook their head. “No…” She breathed, feeling her throat tighten. That was then, and now she stands alone in her home. Dust covered their sleeping places. She in fact had quit sleeping next to where he slept. Feeling her eyes swell again, she shook her head and tried to keep from crying. She was so desperately lonely. Looking at her makeshift shelves, she could see potions that she had made. Despite being a mate and an almost mother, she was a witch. Ever since the death of her mate, she quit using magic. But maybe it was time to begin again. Grabbing some ingredients, she grabbed her cauldron and began to make a soothing potion. This potion would make her feel better, and much more happy. She was ready to get outside today and be with her Clan.
As she worked, she did start to feel better. Her mind was off of all the negativity and the fact that many of her friends were having Welps of their own. As she finished, she sealed the potion in an empty jar and headed out for a nice walk. Many Dragons greeted her, happy to see a smile on her face. She dipped her head to them and told them that she was going to go for a walk out in the woods. She walked quietly into the darker woods and could feel the coolness of the soil under her claws. She felt the breeze and smelled the smells of the wild woods. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath in. She could feel her body relaxing. Walking further into the woods, she spent a good amount of time alone. Her mind began to wander again, back to thoughts that she wished would just leave her alone. She found herself growing sad again.
As she walked, another scent came to her. A more rotting scent. Following this smell, she came across an abandoned nest. Many of the eggs were crushed and decaying. Only one stood upright, although it still smelled rotten. She sighed, knowing that the parents must have been lost to these unborn babies, or they no longer wanted them. She couldn’t imagine leaving a nest. Her eyes scanned the standing egg up and down. Suddenly, something clicked in her mind. Maybe she could still save this baby! Maybe, just maybe her magic could bring this baby back to life! She could still have a Welp! Many Dragons looking in on this scene would call her crazy, and the truth was; she was. She was driven mad with her grief, and now she is attempting to create life from a decaying egg. She took the egg, and quickly brought it to her Den. She placed in the nest she made fro her own eggs and began to gather items. She worked all throughout the night, gathering and tweaking things. She cooked and created, threw spells left and right. Finally, in the early hours of the morning, she was ready to create a Welp. Focusing her strength, she stared at the shell of the egg. Pouring a salve over the shell, she started to chant. Her voice was haunting, eerily singing to her egg. A light blue aura started to glow around the egg, and the runes on her body began to glow the same color. She could feel her energy heighten. The egg began to reverse the decay and soon, a new egg was created. When the aura ebbed, she collapsed with breathless heaves. She did it! She created a life!
She waited for the egg to hatch, praying that it truly did work, but it was no use. The egg was not hatching. Growing into more turmoil, she began to weep. All that work, just to lose it. As she wept, she heard a loud cracking. Looking up, she gasped. The egg was hatching! Outside, the sun started to rise, a new day was rising, and a new future for Inthrecea was as well. She watched the egg hatch into a Mirror Welp. She gasped and let out a yell of excitement. She had a Welp of her own!
The months that followed were interesting to say the least. The Clan never knew what Inthrecea did, just that she had found a Welp in the woods and saved her. They took her story, but some still insist that the witch did something. The Mirror was not like the other Welps, and as she grew alongside them, it was clear that something was off about both the Spiral and the Mirror. Inthrecea didn’t care what the others said. With a mad look in her eyes, she had created her Welp, and was going to love her more than any other mother. She worked so hard to have a baby, and now that she was finally here, Inthrecea was never going to let her baby go. Her happiness finally came to her, and from that day on, she found her happiness. And her power.
