Cinder wasn't even fully adult yet when her old clan was utterly destroyed. Cinder herself was badly wounded and on the verge of dying, lying in the blood of her parents and siblings. The pain was almost unbearable and because of that she didn't feel the burning sensation in her skin, like something being written into her skin with hot iron. She noticed the bright light trough her almost closed eyes and noticed that she began feeling less pain and less tired. 'I must be near death..' she thought. But her strength slowly kept returning and she fully opened her eyes slowly. She saw that her own body was the cause of the bright glowing light and that she was unable to look at it without being blinded. Slowly standing up on her paws she saw the mangled bodies of her friends and family around her, all dead, limbs broken and expressions of fear permanently on their faces. She heard their killers laughing in the distance, around them their spoils of war. Why they even attacked her little clan she did not know, being as young as she was she wasn't allowed in some important clan meetings but seeing these murderers like this snapped something in her. A sudden rage came over her and she started walking towards the group. They noticed her and a few of them stood up, grinning at the weak, bloody young dragon coming towards them. Cinder her anger rise, then a power surge in her body and she blacked out. When she 'woke up' again they where all dead, their bodies broken en burning, lying on the ground before her She stumbled, almost falling to the ground and left out a sad, broken cry, her grief about the dragons she loved coming out all at once. She fell down to the ground and lost consciousness.
When Cinder awoke from her black out she was found by Kaito, who immediately warned his clan. James took her in his paws and brought her back to the clan.There they got her back on her paws and she and Kaito developed a strong band. He, Lily and James are the only ones who know the story of her markings and Lily has asked the rest of the clan to not ask her about it so no one is quite certain what they mean, or what they are for. They respect Lily and Cinder so they do not push Cinder for it.
Cinder grew up to be one of the most peaceful, calm and serene dragons in the clan. The only effect these runes have now is one of making a strange ambient light when it grows dark outside and the markings on her wings are unmoving now, though Lily thinks they might cause the same destruction again when she gets the reason for it. They still don't know why they attacked her clan or why she got this weird powers but somewhere in her memories Cinder remembers weird machines, bright lights and weird sounds while other dragons where standing around her.
