For the longest time, Tuoksu was the face of the Burrow's military. He was Caida's bodyguard and a vigilante activist, although his lack of charisma kept his attempts of charming Caida into establishing a military of any sort as a collection of failures. So he did his job, and that was that. When Platine arrived and began climbing the steps of the hierarchy, Tuoksu had conflicted emotions about her. For one, he was angry and jealous that a young dragon, practically fresh out of the hatchery, had a bigger effect on Caida than him, who had been there throughout the Burrow's history, but he was also relieved that someone was finally taking action. So he formed what was, to him, an uneasy alliance with Platine, who just thought Tuoksu was a capable soldier.

Tuoksu is a very interesting character among the ranks of the Royal Guard. He's strong, he's loyal, he's more than useful on the battlefield, but he's too vain and stuck in his ways to be an effective leader to the Royal Guard. He's high-ranking, but nobody really listens to him unless absolutely necessary. This, contrasted with the respect Platine garners, or the love everyone fosters for Kipina, or the pure, unadulterated admiration and intimidation Claudia creates in the public, and the complete lack of any of those for Tuoksu... He's not exactly fond of his own position, either. If he wasn't convinced that the Royal Guard would fall apart without him, he might consider retirement.
