Biography
The turner of tides comes at last
On velvet wings; She shall ascend the throne of power Leaving the slain in her wake For she was born with nothing; And so from nothing will a new age come to pass When Curio spoke the prophecy that would change his clan's future forever, a sick feeling came over him. It had seemed an inconsequential day at first. A small group of dragons were visiting a local market and he had gone along to stretch his tired limbs and possibly find a replacement for his scrying basin. They had been wandering the market for some time and Curio was just beginning to grow tired when a familiar but petrifying feeling came over him. There in the shadowy marketplace he staggered and clenched his jaw as his vision went completely white. Then something otherworldly coursed through his body, searing pain in the runes on his scales, and spoke using his mouth. As the words came, Curio felt an overwhelming sense of foreboding. It was wrong; it was all wrong. This prophecy would not turn out for the better, and he could feel it in every bone of his body. But he could do nothing to stop the words, and once they had been heard it was certain to happen. He came to lying on his side with dragons buzzing about him, but his eyes focused on one small skydancer afar off, perched in a tree and staring at him with ferocious intent. She was so young, but even from this distance Curio could see that she was ambitious; power hungry. He blinked a few times and she seemed to disappear, but the leftover otherworld sight in his veins told him that it was not the last time he would see her. That evening, the clan gatherered around the fire to discuss the prophecy that had come about in the marketplace that night. Curio stayed to the shadows, head rested on his paws, listening only idly. It frustrated him to no end that the prophecy seemed so clear, and yet so many parts of it were not. Such an occurrence could bring impossible good or horrendous tragedy to his clan, and he had no way of knowing. It gnawed at him through the evening as he heard the endless debate. Every so often he lifted his head to see King atop his newly-made throne. Doubtless the dragon was angry, and the fury in his stare toward Curio confirmed that. When morning came, Curio woke with dread deep in his chest. He stood, limbs shaking uncontrollably, and looked toward King's throne. There he saw the young skydancer, standing proud and regal as if she had been born for this, and he knew that the prophecy was being fulfilled before his very eyes. He shuddered as he bowed his head to his new Queen. |
