Astraed

Astraed grew up in a rather rich household in the Focal Point, and went to school in The Observatory. Her parents were kind however, and they taught Astra to be grateful and compassionate.

Young Astra loved school, but as she grew older it became apparent that she did not have the smarts of a typical Arcane dragon, or even the desire to learn. She was more focused on her friends, a group of rebellious duelists who frequently got in trouble. Astra did not participate in their schemes, but she did learn to battle and became a skilled fighter.

One day, her friends decided to play a prank on a priest at the Observatory whilst he prayed to the Arcanist. They tricked Astra into coming with them and framed her. The poor nervous child wept, for she had been caught by an important dragon and she had never been in trouble. However the priest took pity on her and gave her guidance.

"Child, I can see that your soul is good a pure, you just turned down the wrong path. Come with me and we shall make sure you see the right one," he said, then he calmly led Astra to a shrine. Upon the shrine there was a bright pink stone, the same color as Astra's eyes.

"It's...the Arcanist's, right?" she whispered. "He...wouldn't want me. I'm not a dreamer. I don't seek to know the unknown."

"Hush, child. He sees the pureness of your soul, just as I do, so don't change who you are. Just change who you fight for."

After that day, Astra devoted herself to protecting those who can't protect themselves, to saving those who can't be saved, to fighting against those that must be fought. Astra became a devoted warrior to the temple of the Arcanist, who one day came to her in her dreams.

"Astraed, you must leave the Starfall Isles."

"Leave? But...but why?" she cried. "I must stay to defend my home!"

"Astraed, you have spent many years here and we are safe. You have built me an army of protectors, but you no longer have anyone to protect. So leave, and find someone to save."

And so Astra took to her own, traveling the land, and found herself in the Land of Light, where she joined the frail clan of the Lost Luminlings. There she discovered her true potential and built a strong army of protectors and defenders. But she knew she couldn't stay here for long. She always had someone to fight for.
