Mal came to Clan Kataja with her slightly older brother Deviant when their parents kicked them out (?) for being frailer and more sickly than anticipated.
They usually keep to themselves, but there are a few dragons who seek out their company. Some fall in Mal's taste, and some needs some improvement before she decides to keep them in their closeknit group of plague ridden dragons.
Mal's claws holds a rare genetic disease and if she wounds someone with them they too get sick and fade into pale reflections of their former selves.
Because of the disease riding through their bodies, Mal and her group of rejects hide in the deepest corners of Clan Kataja, and only come out once the climate gets milder.
