Lore

The spinner and weaver of Clan Snastle, Cetineite and her partner Iolite work together with Prehnite to create beautiful silks. Prehnite supplies the golden cocoons from her precious silkworms, which Cetineite spins into thread. The thread can be dyed by Iolite or woven straight into bolts of shimmering silk and dyed after the weaving.

Cetineite finds great satisfaction in working the delicate cocoons into bolts of strong silk. She loves most that the work can be done while chatting to others, and in contrast to Iolite’s workspace, full of vats, dyes and ingredients lining large benches, the area Cetineite has made for herself is closer to a sitting room, or maybe a harem. Her spinning wheel takes up only a small part of the large, open room. One small bench can be folded out from where it hangs along one wall, and racks hold the rest of her equipment off the floor and out of the way when not in use. The floor space is taken up by a circle of low couches and plush cushions, the spinning wheel lying alongside the one Cetineite favours. A small pit in the centre holds a fire, the embers always kept hot enough to make a pot of tea.

More often than not, Cetineite’s large workroom is used as a gathering place. Even before Cetineite takes her seat to begin the mornings work, there are usually a few dragons lazing about on the couches chatting and sipping tea. Usually her work day begins with someone brewing her a cup of whichever tea Orpiment has supplied that day. The Weaving Room, as it has become known, is a hub for news and gossip in Clan Snastle. The chatty weaver always has her claw on the pulse of the clan, and she loves the community space her room has become. The other dragons do too, and Cetineite never needs to worry about fetching tea, snacks to nibble on, fuel or water – her guests quite often bring something along out of gratitude for the friendly company and comfortable space she keeps.
