Nickell

The wind brushes his wings as he looks over the land he calls home. Knowing everything there is about this place made him grow weary of his home. His father Enna had always told him "Go where your heart leads you and you will always be at home."

Nickell took this message that his father gave him to heart and when he was old enough he departed from home to see the world that was around him. The wilds he called home were all he knew and he was sick of knowing everything. He was ready to see it all. Though in time he learned the world is a harsh unforgiving place and that you have to fight to survive.


After he left home he saw so many great things. How other dragons in the world live together in harmony and societies that it made. His first big stop was in the wind city of Iago. His mother had always spoke about her travels there to sell and trade furs for the clan. It was a wonder of jewels and many other expensive things he had only heard of at home. Nickell looked at many other dragons living the life in Iago. Then he stumbled upon a little Snapper who looked like he had gone a few days without any food. The goodness in his heart made Nickell walk to the little dragon and asked him
" What's a little guy like you doing on the street by yourself?" Nickell asked as he pulled a fried salted fish out of his food bag" Here little guy eat this. It will calm that hungry stomach of yours." The Snapper took the fish and ran off into another alley. Nickell followed him to see where he ran off to. When he got close to where the Snapper had gone he heard a large amount of commotion. He looked down the alley to see a group of baby Snappers and what appeared to be a very injured adult female. He saw the one he gave the fish trying to feed it to what he assumes is the little one's mother. Nickell walks up to inspect the injuries of the Snapper.
"Are you okay ma'am?" He asked the female snapper " What did this to you" Nickell grabs some cloth from his bag and proceeds to wrap one of the open wounds. The Snapper tried to answer but all she could give was a few moans and groans of pain. " That's alright I'll patch your wounds. Hopefully that will stop the pain for the most part." He looked down to see what he felt was a thankful look in the mother's eyes. It took him a few hours of work but he managed to mend the snappers wounds and got her and the babies to eat. Wore out for all the work Nickell laid down to take a quick snooze . A few more hours passed and Nickell opened his eyes to find a baby snapper sleeping on his nose. He lightly rolls his head over so the baby slides on to the ground without being disrupted from its sleep. After he pulls the rest of the little snappers off him he confronts the mother about what happened.
" Me and my husband were attacked by a group of dragons. They took my husband and did all of this to me" she told Nickell." I begged them to take everything we had and not my husband because the kids need their father at the stage they are at. I think they were part of the Wu sung clan of dragons." Nickell didn't know what or who the Wu sung were.
"They sound like some kind of gang not a clan. Where did they go are they still close?" Nickell said as a he sharpened his claws getting ready to fight if he ran into them.
"I don't know where they went but I have heard they have a hideout somewhere outside the city. An abandoned factory I think." She told Nickell " Please be careful I don't want anyone else to get hurt." Nickell just looked at her and gave a big smile.
" Don't worry ma'am I'm not gonna get hurt. I'd be more worried for the Wu sung" he responded. He quickly slipped away back into the street markets of Iago. After getting side tracked a couple more time Nickell found his way to the abandon factory. The words "Wu sung" were written in huge symbols that covered the side of the factory he could see. At first Nickell was confused because it didn't seem as anyone was at the factory at the time. As he approached the door as quietly as he could, he heard what sounded like two Coatls arguing about something. He couldn't make out what because his knowledge in the Coatl's way of speaking was not very good.
Nickell knew he couldn't go through the front door. But he realized that maybe he could slip in through the vents. The only problem being his weight breaking the vents. Instead of making the noise of climbing the side of the building. Nickell retreated to the nearest hill and glided to the roof of the factory. The landing scratched the concrete of the roof a bit but made very little noise. Nickell then took his snake like body and slipped into the vents. It was a tight squeeze but he made it work. He found the first opening that was to the inside and dropped in. "I have to find that Snapper. That mother dragon and her babies are counting on me to." Nickell told himself.
Nickell knew that he was putting himself at risk trying to help the poor dragon the Wu Sung had kidnapped but the drive to help that family kept him going. As he moved through the factory he saw a couple Coatls and a few Faes but nothing beyond that. He could already tell that if he needed to fight that he would have the upper hand. That's when he saw a Ridgeback male looking around. Nickell realized that Ridgeback had caught his unfamiliar scent and had started searching for him. “ That horn on his nose could puncher my scales I have to be careful not to get caught” He told himself. At that moment Nickell felt the jaws of a larger dragon grab him by the neck and he was thrown across the room he was in. It was the Ridgeback that had smelled him out.
Nickell got up from being thrown and he felt a great pain in the back of his neck. Ridgeback’s teeth had broke through his scales. In anger from the pain Nickell’s hair all over his body turn into flames and he let out a huge roar in attempt to deter the Ridgeback. The Ridgeback let out a roar in answer and charged at Nickell. Nickell side stepped the charge and stood up on his hind legs. He then grab the Ridgeback by his front horn and slammed his head into the ground. Nickell followed this up with a slash to the side and a to one of his wings. The Ridgeback try to stand but was couldn't at first. Nickell started to walk away when he heard a roar and narrowly got hit with a fire blast. Not wanting to show what element he was Nickell decided to use his agility to finish this fight. The Ridgeback kept using fire blast but Nickell kept dodging them until he was close enough to slash the the other dragons head and slam him with a tail slam. The tail slam knocked the Ridgeback out cold. Nickell checked to make sure that he hadn't killed the dragon. Even though this dragon had hurt him Nickell patched the Ridgebacks wounds so he wouldn’t bleed to death. Nickell then proceed to the door that lead to where the Snapper was . The poor dragon looked as if he were dead he had been beaten so much.
“ By the windsinger what did they do to you?” Nickell asked. The Snapper couldn’t even move his mouth because they had broken the poor dragon's jaw. Suddenly the alarms started to go off. Nickell had to get this Snapper to his family. Using a blast of hurricane force winds he blow a hole in the side of the Factory. With all his strength he grabbed the Snapper and dragged him outside. He only had one option go to the city and grab the snappers family and take them to his home in the wilds. Nickell dragged the injured dragon and hid him in a bush line several Kilometers away from the factory. After he flew back to Iago and got the snappers family and took all of them back to his clan's home. This Snapper would later become the Clan's Scholar and be know as Winston.
