Nightgleam

Though his status as an Imperial Plague Dragon makes him an imposing figure, Nightgleam possesses a calm, contemplative personality and a consider-before-moving nature that is perhaps improper in a dragon of his element. Ever fascinated with the ability of contagion and poison to heal as well as harm, Nightgleam has become the Cosmic Gem Clan's chief medicine dragon - and while some question his methods, none can argue that his light touch and unconventional approach produce results.

Born on the outskirts of the Scarred Wasteland, Nightgleam took a keen interest in the dragons of other flights passing near the Plague domain's borders. As a hatchling, it was common for him to venture out seeking to speak with those others; as a Plaue Dragon, it was common for him to be chased away for fear of what contagions he might carry. On beginning to understand their fear, he turned to study of the contagions themselves; it was there that he discovered that, like some members of his Flight, the virulent strains the Wasteland produced fought each other as readily as a dragon's own body, and poison that could normally kill a dragon might instead save in the right combinations and dosages. Thus armed with the ability to protect potential inter-Flight friends from his Plague nature (and a bit of an outcast for his research to begin with), Nightgleam set out for further study.

Still, Plague Dragons are not welcome in many places; in turn he was driven from the Starfall Isles, Dragonhome, Viridian Labyrinth (where he nearly met his end), and the Sunbeam Ruins. Finally, on crossing the Sea of a Thousand Currents to study the venom of sea creatures residing there, he found himself on the shores of the Windswept Plateau. Finding the friendly Wind Dragons more inclined to listen, learn from, and accept his services without trying to 'convert' him from his Plague alignment and ways, Nightgleam at last found his home in the Cosmic Gem Clan - and the Clan has found their hatchlings are stronger and more disease-resistant for his presence.
