By appearances, Alathfar is a skydancer of little merit. He is average of build, bookish in appearance, and commands no great presence from others when he speaks. His occasional nervousness and misplaced anxiety is sometimes quite frustrating for outsiders to understand.

Alathfar, like many skydancers, is neatly attuned to the emotions of others. He takes regular soundings of those with whom he spends time. If there is any way in which he may assist them or ease their troubles, he does his best to do so, even at his own expense. Many have seen him nearly falling over himself to help a stranger with problems that fall within his scope.

What strangers do not expect, however, is that Alathfar is a keenly trained battle mage. Raised by parents skilled in exorcism and spiritual defenses, Alathfar learned all there was to warding areas with runes and more before he was old enough to fly the skies of Dragonhome unaccompanied. His prodigy-like skill in manipulating earth and stone to his will has saved his life more times than he can count, and in the early dawns, he can still be found honing his skills.

Alathfar's nervous disposition stems from prolonged exposure to the hazards of Cairnstone Rest from a young age. As Alathfar expressed eagerness at following in his father's footsteps, he was welcomed to shadow him many times. But where the children of other exorcists and Hunters were taught stealth and subtlety, tracking and trapping, Alathfar was taught the full-fledged fury of a brawler in the heat of battle.

He has felt this same unspeakable rage within him in Cairnstone. This same beast, barely chained, that he felt in his father some days, Alathfar feels deep within himself. He worries that he may lose control. He worries that some darkness has lodged within his heart. He worries that others around him are in grave danger.

For his own well-being, Alathfar followed his mother's advice to find another calling. While he will sometimes be found sealing old tombs he comes across in his travels, Alathfar would by no means call himself a Hunter, a sealmaker, or an exorcist. Instead, he styles himself a battle mage. Some may not understand the distinction, but Alathfar finds it easier to fight living creatures that everyone can see than those unseen whispers that may cause him to start down a slippery slope.

Taken under the wings of Clan Nebula's council of elders, Alathfar has been schooled in arts of diplomacy and battle. Through regular correspondance, he helps coordinate news between Clan Nebula and his birth clan, Oakrest, especially for word of the Shade or other fiendish developments. He has proudly taken his post as a defender of his newfound clan, and he is happy to lend his knowledge to those who may wish to combat the unseen - even if he is less than eager to do so himself.

Still, when pushed, Alathfar has the stubborn, strong-willed determination iconic of dragons from the northern deserts. If threatened, he will defend his new clan as dearly as he ever defended his old. He will hold the lines in battle and ever let the bones of the old ones guide his path.
