Strange voices whisper dark secrets to Kaala, and she is always there to lend an ear. Each new secret eats away at the dragon she once was, filling her with an emptiness that drives her, a hunger for knowledge that supercedes every other desire she once had. Before, she was a brigand, a dragon who took what she wanted and needed without question. She was a talented smith who forged her own weapons and learned to infuse items with magic, a hobby that wasn't cheap. It was her greed for material things that led to her lust for the eldritch knowledge that now works up her thoughts like the pull of a tide. The memory of the first time she ever heard those sourceless whispers is long gone. She knows she doubted them once - doubted herself - but time and time again their incoherent speeches birthed truths and lead her down path after path of discovery and creation. Some days she resembles the dragon she used to be. Some days she sits at her anvil and works good steel into fine blades, spins wool into enchanted cloth, laughs in the haughty way that is entirely Kaala. |

Those days are few and far between anymore. More often than not, Kaala goes for days on end without speaking a word to anyone but herself, her body hunched over scattered scrolls and spilled ink and trinkets that would have no meaning to anyone else. She sits in pained silence, waiting desperately to hear the voices that nobody else has ever claimed to hear. Normally bright eyes go glazed and unfocused, deft claws scrabble to piece together the puzzle she has set before herself to solve. --- Though Kaala was arrested for the crimes she commited during her time as a brigand - thievery, destruction of propery, murder - the Matriarch of the Highwall Stockade could not deny the potential usefulness of such a skilled artificer. After some observation, the clan decided she was not a danger as long as she had the tools she needed to further her studies. As such, Kaala now has a relatively comfortable setup within the Stockade. She is not allowed free reign, but she is given everything she requests for her work, no matter how nonsensical it might seem to her captors. She has proven her usefulness, crafting magical devices that have become staple tools to the dragons of the Stockade. tba |
