 B I O G R A P H Y
Where some may rise after their masters have beaten them down, Sionnach never made it. Where the bravest can transcend the cruelties of bondage, he is but a simple Bogsneak, not even tied to a deity. An accident after his kind, they say. Though he is freed at long last, it has taken its toll, that life of peering around every corner; staring into the shadows and jumping at every sound. Even now, with his friends at his side, he starts at the slightest noise and shies at passing sparrows, imagining every flicker of movement an attempt to wrest the secrets from him. All those whispers and words and wiles hang heavy in his heart, dragging him down; every syllable a stone destined to drown him. He hates it, despises it. He will not be a vessel for every foul mutter in Sornieth. If he could, he would scream out all the burdens unloaded into him, to the last letter—but he can’t. Oh, what an irony, what a cruel prank of life. Once words are poured in, he’ll never loose them. Even if the threat of claws in his throat is not enough, he could not utter a breath to another soul—he has never let slip a single sound, and he never will. Sionnach is mute. The world presses in and he presses out, till he feels he must burst or break. Ever since he learned the true meaning of the sentience every dragon possesses—yes, even him—he sees futility everywhere. Dragons whisper empty words into his care, and he can do nothing but keep them as they wish: another proof of the idiot he is not. He is alone, alone in the clamor of his mind and the silence of his tongue.
