Exalt planets are a lesser known evil run by large clans who have the means to control a planet, and use said control to trick local dark aged dragons that their spaceships are the messagers of a deity. This lie is than used to collect dragon 'sacraficies' as holy warrior mercenaries for the neverending galactic conflicts.

Tijan was one of the mass sacraficies produced by a exalt planet. He was trained in archery all his life for the occasion, only to become lost in space with a engine dead cruiser after his first battle. Overlooked by both friendly and enemy rescue parties, Tijan was found by a scavanger three days later who delivered him to the nearest ship port. There he met the crew of the Chanting, one of the HMCS Vermillions frigates. With no obvious answers or direction he asked to join them.
