When he was first born, he was the picture of beauty, health, and personality. He was a sweet, engaging little pup that stole his adopted parents’ (Caesar and Livia) hearts immediately. When he began to reach maturity there was a change in him, something in him that had been there all along was beginning to rear its ugly head. The Shade. His egg was cast from a nest when it was found to be infected with it. He, however, did not know this and interacted with the lair as he usually did. He is prone to fits of jealousy in relation to Flavius, his rejected brother, and has a quick and terrible temper. Though mature, he feels no need to go on The Search to find his charge. This concerned his father greatly, being they were both Guardians, it’s their nature, and he had often offered to join Iovanus on his traditional journey. Iovanus constantly refused. The Shade changed him physically as he grew older, and it turned his coloring from a brilliant purple to a deep midnight. It manifested on his skin in the form of gembond, which makes him stay indoors most of the time, as it hurts his bones when he moves extensively. Caesar reacted with concern but it was met with hostility, and Iovanus fled from Clan Augustus and joined their rival, Clan Macbelle. He has mated with two dragons, Alcemene and Ipheginia, out of boredom since, and has fathered a total of six children. Only three of which are still living, but he doesn't seem to care. His snarky and rude demeanor, however, caused friction with a terrible thing...Xaolou. Xaolou was quick to murder and devour him, stripped to his bones, and his soul fled from his mangled body. He was missing for several months, worrying those few close to him, but the search party was disbanded after a week. It wasn't until a naked Imperial appeared at the gates claiming to be Iovanus did they grow to question what happened. He doesn't remember. Iovanus is as sensitive as he is cold. He seems to be incapable of compassion or any sort of caring at all. He once took more to his mother than his father, being that he found his father to be a pest. He found the pressure Caesar put on him as the elder brother to be unfair, and he firmly believed that even though he was being trained as the heir to Caesar’s throne, that he was to be cast out immediately once Flavius was ready. For these reasons, he left and became a mercenary for Cathaire. He had intended to kill Caesar with his bare hands when the war came, but ultimately failed when given the chance. His secret could be answered with execution if discovered. Spiteful, complex, and delicate. |
