Slyeu

Growing up as the only Snapper in a clan far from his parents and others of his kind, it certainly didn't help that Slyeu was also somewhat portly and enjoyed learning since he was young, leading to complications with his peers. It was only natural, then, that Valenbriel became his teacher (and hero of sorts) along with the other young ones. As a hatchling, he was often bullied by the local clans' children but found a best friend in Dash'n who was (then) the only Wildclaw in the clan and a fellow Wind dragon. The two were like night and day popularity-wise, and the charismatic Dash'n was often called upon to play, with little Slyeu only being asked to come by him alone. Indeed, even on his first hunt outing with Khrath and others, Dash'n proudly displayed the many birds and lizards he'd captured while Slyeu held up the one Duskrat he'd managed to catch and ended up crying. The moment was magically captured on parchment by Val and Khrath laughed for days.



His only determined goals were to learn excellent penmanship to make Valenbriel proud, and to finally grow up with wings big enough to fly like a Wind dragon should. After an unfortunate event at a lava pool wherein the inkwell Val gave him was melted and he learned that Snappers are ground-bound, Slyeu had a falling out with Dash'n in a fit of frustration, and ended up rather angsty for the rest of his teenage years (which he looks back on with many cringes).

Though he did not become the flyer he wished to be, nor a warrior to make his father proud, he has made peace with himself and found a very agreeable, Snapper-friendly career as a natural philosopher. Slyeu regularly keeps in touch with his clan, his parents, and his best friend, Dash'n. He is currently traveling all around Sornieth, writing accounts and drawing wildlife along with his Wildwood Owl and childhood companion, Hunter. Neither have ever hurt a mouse again.
