Don't be fooled by Kanik's demure looks. This pretty girl is shrewd and intelligent and her pleasant demeanour hides the fact that she is assessing and taking note, weighing up the situation and working all angles to get the best result for her clan.
She dislikes the term 'spy'. She doesn't go on missions, per se; she doesn't report to any kind of government or body of authority. She just quietly gets herself into and out of places, making sure she's seen when she needs and wants to be and isn't seen when she doesn't. And the whole time, she's gathering information. Information which will benefit her clan.
Think of her as... a secret keeper. Knowledge is power, after all.
