Believe it or not, there was a time Rin wanted to settle down. He had found the perfect place for his family. It was a place they could call home.
The only problem was, Rin had not realized it was recently home to a different family.
A week after everyone had moved in, Rin found an abandoned dragon's egg. It was close to hatching, which means someone had been taking care of it until recently. It did not take him long to realize they were the reason it had been left behind. He was horrified by the discovery.
That when Rin decided they would never settle down again. They had stolen someone else's home, and had also stolen family in the process. They obviously weren't meant to have a home for themselves. He was stuck in this terrible mind set for a long time.
When the egg hatched, and Rin watched the baby dragon emerge from the egg with a clumsy flurry of jumbo wiggles and excessive snorting, he realized something very important. They didn't need a place to call home.
They had her.
Home is where the heart is. And that heart is the 8th member ;)
