after surviving the clan's wild adventure xenopus made her way in the world by making and selling her own fashion line
The artifact they were searching for turned out to be a living dragon that hatched out of an ancient nature egg upon their entering the mausoleum that contained it.
Oakhealer touched each of the runes with her mind. The great door began to put off a soft blue glow, then slowly dissolved into nothing. She entered the space on the other side, just far enough to see. There were alcoves and nooks taken up by stone slabs and statues. A few nooks had bones neatly arranged beside each other. "Fae bones, mirror bones, long neck bones - this place must be a mausoleum..." she said. Inarith made her way over to an indention in the floor with two stone owls flanking it. Fog followed close behind her. They both peered through the gloomy shadows and could barely make out a dull brown, round object resting in the low spot. "A nature egg!" declared Inarith, "it must be dead after all this time." Fog stopped for a moment, her focus drifting off as she tapped into the hewn city's latent energy. A tendril of magic floated from the diminuitive fae to the egg and stayed there for several seconds. "Its alive!"
Most in the clan are not happy the object of their search is a living thing. Activating her might kill her.
Update after entering Earth flight: All the hard years of questing, the lurking evil of the hewn city, the punishing expanse of the shattered plain, the maddening labyrinth leading to Dolores' old clan, they all culminated in Xenopus' ascent to the pinnacle of the ancient glowing structure. Fallen members of Dolores' family were strewn about the structure, apparently massacred by the forgotten horror that Hadopelagius, Huitzilopotchli, and Copperhead managed to destroy. Xenopus reached the highest platform, threw back her head and gave a triumphant scream. Dolores and Oak Healer energized the runes at their predesignated positions and set the catalyst within the structure into action.
Xenopus has a natural slime that covers her and protects her from all pathogens. She has an insatiable appetite and will devastate any ecosystem she is placed in, save that of her ancient home, which is lost to history.
