Remember the Name - Fort Minor

John is not a typical mirror. His savage nature long cleansed with fire, melting into something much softer. He is a hardy fellow with a big, warm heart. John accepts all that wish to live under peace in his lair, kicking others out the door if they do not. Normally, found helping around the lair, with his cherry attitude ablaze. He helps around where ever he can, shooing away concerned lairmates who try to make him stop and rest. Independent, hard worker, open-minded, and caring; John may not be the best founder but is most defiantly the most wanted in this lair. He used to be soul leader, however stepped down when a call for democracy was sounded. He did so without fuss, as he is cares more for the dragon's happiness then his own power status. Furthermore, he was not fully kicked out of power, instead he was given a seat on the new democratic council. Giving his advice and remaining true to his golden heart, he is known to be the whistleblower at the slightest hint of corruption/power hungry attitude. Though often, when he is not helping, is found wandering alone. Most presume he is taking a stroll in the past where his dear mate resides. Jes was the cofounder of the lair and John's mate but became ill of a plague disease and passed away peacefully, surprisingly, in her sleep.

I stared over at the female tundra. She was too focus to notice my stare, weaving a basket to store the lair's food. We were the only two dragons in the newly founded lair. This tiny tundra's name was Jes. She came to the lair a few days, dazed, but looking for a new start. Daydreaming, I was lost in thought, still staring at her now confused face which stared back at me. She gently poked my nose which snapped me back into attention. I blushed deeply, thankfully the blush did not show up on my dark hide. Getting uncomfortable under her watchful gaze I shouted, "HEY WATCH THIS!" She tilted her head giggling, "Uh...sure?" I really don't know what I'm doing.... I lunged forward and started charging down the lava covered ground, dirt clouds trailing behind my feet. I let my wings gracefully open. I lept into the air, my wings catching the warm gust of air from the lava vents, sending me up into the smog covered sky. I flapped my wings again getting more confident with my speed. I curled my body into a loop, closing my wings. The ground blurring below me. My wings snapped open before hitting the ground, launching me into a burst of speed.

Or so I thought. In reality my wings failed to open in time, causing my body crashed into the ground. Dirt sprayed everywhere, my wings flailing like a flag in the breeze. Blood pooled under me from a jagged line on my face, though the thing that hurt most was my pride. I laid there in pain, not wanting to move or face her. She probably thought I was a idiot.... I felt her soft touch on the side of my face, bringing me to face her glowing eyes. She was giggling uncontrollably throughout the day. However, weeks later spite the incident she accepted my offer to be my mate, loving me unconditionally until she sadly passed away from a plague illness.
I still rule the lair to this day, although anytime I see my faded scar I smile softly for it reminds me of my dear Jes.
