Blaise is a very hardy and resilient individual with a strong mind. Strengthened by years of experience on the battlefield. He always has his wits about him and is never one to over shoot a goal. His views are always changing, because of the stories of others in the clan and bar but he know what to believe and what not to. He often listens in to the adventures of others since he is no longer fit enough to fight the demons himself.

His eyesight might be failing him, but his other senses made up for it, most the time. Though, Blaise still occasionally walks into things and spills drinks, but no one gets on his case about it, because his bite is still much worse than his bite. However, that doesn’t mean that the old warrior doesn’t have his soft spots. He’ll go on and on for hours about all his hunts and all the wall mounts he was responsible for, while showing off his loud and enthusiastic side. Though, in a tavern one has to be loud if they want to be heard. Sometimes he ends up having a coughing fit if he isn’t careful.

Blaise wasn’t initially born in such a rowdy lair. His former home was actually quite peaceful and had its own little platoon of dragons that protected everyone else. The adults wanted Blaise and his siblings and other young dragons to focus on writing, reading and other artsy past times, but Blaise wanted nothing to do with it. He wanted to get out, to rough house, to fight monsters. He dreamed to be part of the platoon and often imagined himself out on the battlefield, killing beasts that had far too many eyes.

Once the young coatls parents found this out however, they tried to discourage his way of thinking. They much rather him be a scholar or a poet instead and this irritated the young coatl greatly, so he left. Blaise abruptly walked out on his parents after they had vocalized their disapproval and he hasn’t heard from them or seen them since. Now that he was free, combat became second nature to him. Fighting off foes more than three times his size and this caught the eye of a pair of more barbaric dragons.

The pair was deeply impressed as they watched him engage a massive Ashscale Ophiotaur with ease. When the battle was finished the two guardians approached the young coatl, who by then was out of breath. They offered him a spot in their lair, he had proven himself worthy in their eyes and Blaise was grateful. Especially when he saw the lair focused around skills in combat and hunting the heads of great creatures as trophies and for a while everything was great.

Eventually Blaise’s plumage started to fade and dull, an obvious sign to others that something was wrong and he tried to hide it with cloaks and other clothing. However, he couldn’t hide his coughing or his suddenly diminishing evasion skills on the battlefield. Others began to notice, but hoped that he was just having a rough time in his life, however when Blaise nearly got himself and another killed, Elaygn decided it was time to find out exactly what was going on.

The clan matriarch felt her heart sink upon when she pulled back Blaise’s hood, seeing the now nearly white coatl, where had all his colors gone? Where had the life in his eyes gone? Upon thinking that question, the matriarch realised one of her greatest hunters was going blind. No one understood why, Blaise had been fine and seemingly healthy for the longest time.It wasn’t until they called in a well versed medic that they found out that Blaise was a carrier of the Nosos virus, better known as one of the afflicted.

However, Clan Open Maw didn’t shun the sick coatl like most would’ve, they helped him find out where else he could fit in. Thankfully, Blaise made for a good bartender since he liked to listen to the stories of others and tell his own. Along with getting a little tipsy from time to time. He enjoyed the liveliness of the tavern and how quiet it could be at times and learned to work with the limited vision he had. As strong as his mind and his resolve was, Blaise still didn’t look forward to the day where he’d lose his eyesight completely.
