Throughout the pages of history, Xerxes goes down as one of the most brutal and feared plague generals known to the Third Era. Unparalleled in the battlefield, he would tear through massive armies without mercy; all in the name of the Plaguebringer. His reputation had quickly spread throughout Sornieth to such a point where one would shiver at the slight mention of him.

But he was not as ruthless as the books portray him. After each and every battle, he would walk amongst the bodies of the fallen, foe or not, and pay his respects to the dead. He would see to it that the memoirs, trinkets, anything left behind by the fallen be sent to their families, so that even if he could not return the dead to their families, he would at least return their memories.

On one such stroll through the ruins of the battlefield, he heard the cry of a child. A child? How could it be? His scouts had reported that the village was a rebel holdout and there were no villagers. He rushed into the direction of the cry, finding a small little baby trapped under the debris of a burnt down house. Clawing away all the obstacles with his might, he gently took the little baby into his arms. The little baby opened her bright red sparkling eyes and looked wide at Xerxes in wonder. His dark red eyes met with the baby's, and in an instant his whole childhood flashed back to him. Tears had gathered in his eyes, as the baby grasped onto one of his fingers, coiling around his humongous claw with her soft delicate little hands and giving him a giggle before coughing into a complete halt. The smog had claimed the baby. Xerxes felt his heart ache in pain as he let out a loud roar, and fell to his knees; tears shedding down his tattered black face.

A small little mysterious fae had witnessed this. The fae felt sympathy towards the big dragon and approached the little baby. Upon checking the baby and discovering some signs of life, she immediately casted a healing spell to nurse back the baby back to life. Xerxes had never seen such powerful magic before, as he stared at wonder at the marvel the fae just performed. The baby was saved but Xerxes' pride had shattered. Unknowingly how many villages had his armies burnt to the ground? How many innocent dragons had his armies killed? How many babies died, deprived of their life at birth because of him? He felt betrayed by the might he once so prided upon. Xerxes decided to strip himself of all his titles and vanish from the pages of history, vowing to never ever take arms again throwing his sword and banner beside the carcass of a mutilated body - he was never to be found ever again. Many presumed Xerxes had succumbed to the hands of an assassin that dark night.

Xerxes took it upon himself to raise up the baby as his own, away from the preying eyes of the vile creatures he once called brothers and fought with. Not being able to leave a small little baby in the hands of a brute, the fae accompanied him to their hideout, where she shared the secret of her powerful healing magic that was lost to dragonkind but secretly preserved from it getting into the wrong hands as it had before.

Decades passed, and the little baby grew into a beautiful young dagon. And after many, many years for the first time ever, Xerxes sets foot back on the red wasteland in search of a new home, a place that they can call their own, where the young one can set free and finally take flight into the air.
