They were a dud egg, laying in Heathen's mostly empty nest. the mother had not the strength to yet bury the egg. She had laid with it for another week. When that week had passed she finally came to.
Her baby was no longer with her.
So she, with the help of Rolo, took the dud egg to the colorful river that made its way through their clan. And they laid it carefully in the roots of a nearby tree.
That night the egg hatched, the small hatchling tumbling into the colorful river. They were all alone and fearful. They swam to the river bed and laid alone, they were small and weak, all they could do was give off small keens.
The small noises traveled into Heathen's den, the mother not having the ability to sleep. She stood and left the den, following the noises till she came to the river bed. Laying their she found the weak hatchling. She hurried to them, laying down and curling around them. She keened and trilled to them.
She gave them the name.
Locket
Heathen called them, the locket that held her heart.

Locket still lives with their mother. they are so deeply connected. If anyone laid a claw on Locket, Heathen would most likely take their life.
