Though a member of a Light clan now, Ladyshade retains some connection to her icy origins every time she uses her powers to freeze an enemy in their tracks. It is perhaps because of her unusually Ice-directed lifestyle that she has been able to find and befriend an Ice Sprite, though the Ice Sprites were already a dying species by the time Ladyshade was born. With her powers to protect it, her Ice Sprite is content in the Sunbeam Ruins, and Ladyshade herself finds the domain of the Lightweaver, with its glitter and gleam, vastly preferable to the bleakness of the Southern Icefield.

She and her life's-companion Moonrise, the chief battlemaiden, train both new battlemaidens and dragons who wish to gain more experience before going to serve the Lightweaver.

It would be difficult to say which Ladyshade enjoys more: jewelry, ornamentation, and luxury; or crushing enemies in the merciless grip of winter for the well-being of the clan, the safety of Sornieth, and the glory of the Lightweaver. She is fearless as well as vain, and has, more than once, when left the last dragon standing against the mightiest foes of their battlegrounds, fought the great rays and wartoads to their shattering defeat rather than flee.
