Vortex, the Terrifying

Bio: Vortex founded the Everyst Clan alongside his mate Night after he found his Guardian Call, an old red garnet ring, small enough for only a Fae to wear, with a female spirit of indistinguishable origin or species inside who helps guide the Clan onwards when consulted and is rumoured to be the one who suggested the Clans name. He gave this ring to his beloved mate so he had an excuse to protect them both and show just how much he trusts her, to be the one to hold his Call. He is the second dragon after Dark-Knight Oberon to have his title be changed, from Defender to Terrifying from his exploits in the Arcane Hunger Games.

Vortex is the Clans greatest male warrior and was the one who mentored Dark Knight Obsidian. He was the victim of the petralizing gaze of a basilisk when its effects was at it's most powerful due to the buff on Earth magics during the Rockbreaker Ceremony, however Nights swift intervention and myriad knowledge of spells saved him and only his bottom half remains as animated rock. Nights spells reside in the navy wrappings she once gave him helping to keep the rock together, not harm him during movement and keep the curse from spreading further. He is noted to be terrifying to others who meet him due to his stern demeanor, low gruff voice and the fact he's half stone yet still an accomplished fighter in his own right. He passed over control of battle affairs to Obsidian and Sophia due to his curse and, while he is often still on the front lines of battle due to his experience and skill, focuses more on internal Clan affairs these days.

The birth of then-Heiress Maya into the Clan was praised by him as a blessing by the Arcanist himself. Then-Second heiress Gala was similarly met with great joy from Vortex having been born with a rare gene on the anniversary of the Clans creation. In fact he is noted to often show the most positive emotion when a new hatchling is kept within the Clan, which hints he is just as soft for them as his mate is and is likely the reason why he lets her get away with adopting so many.
The birth of the twin Guardians Ensis and Ferrum however were a cause of potential unrest, their colouration meaning their birth couldn't just be ignored but to introduce more Heirs could cause fractions to develop. The solution was found in raising to two as personal bodyguards for the two elder siblings. Then came Cirrus, who's birth came at a very turbulent time. But that requires backstory;

Vortex participated in the infamous 10th Hunger Games, where the dreaded Legend and Curse of the devious Treesnek started. Vortex spent the early portion of the game scaring and chasing stragglers, mainly keeping to himself otherwise. But he caught wind of the whispers and ideas being spread amongst other tributes by the Treesnek and turned his attention to hunting down and killing off those infected by the poisonous words. He almost succeeded, only one follower remained when he was taken down by a Nocturne who thought Vortex was attacking the hatchling follower out of malice rather than trying to spare more from betrayal and pain. That Nocturne was then killed the very next day by the hatchling follower of the Treesnek and went on to win. Vortex regrets his laxity in under-estimating the Nocturnes resolve and not telling her the truth before attacking leading to that failure and has sworn a Clan vendetta against the Treesneks Cult.

This came back to bite the Clan when in the 18th Hunger Games Maya was entered and fell thrall of the Treesnek Cults machinations, siding with them. Enraged by this betrayal by his own flesh and blood, Maya was stripped of her rank and set to be banished to the Arcanist service in atonement. Gala was promoted to being the new Clan Heiress and a meeting was chaired to decided who would be made into the new Second. Many thought Ensis would be promoted as the younger of the twins had lost her charge with Mayas exile-declaration and thus now no-longer bound as a Guardswyrm. Surprisingly however Ferrum, the older of the twins, denied the promotion for the both of them. Instead putting forward that the newly hatched Cirrus who has the double-colouration blessing, should get the position with Ensis as his Guard to give his sister a chance at redeeming her honor for failing with Maya.

When Cirrus came of age and developed into a cool-headed diplomat, the twins decided to leave the Clan ans join the Arcanists service with full blessing for their piety and Ensis redeemed. This solved any chance of a succession crisis.
