Settled in the Sunbeam Ruins long before this clan was even a twinkle in the deities' eyes, Caramel was known to most as simply the Advisor. Many sought her wisdom and kind words in times of strife, and she gladly aided them best to her capabilities. This peaceful existence ended after one of the first major Emperor incidents occurred in the Sunbeam Ruins. A major skirmish between multiple clans with high imperial density erupted in the Ruins, with multiple falling in the bloodbath. However, most left the bodies to recover at a later date, not knowing what horrors lay ahead due to their grave mistake. Caramel was on the outskirts of the bloodied battlefield aiding wounded clans and soothing grievances between them when the first howl of one of the newly formed Emperors echoed. Staring at what was thought to be a story told to temper Imperial arrogance given flesh, Caramel could only watch in horror as more Emperors started to peel themselves from the slurry of gore and death. She did what any dragon with an ounce of self preservation did: she fled. She flew as fast as she could out of the ruins, abandoning those she had sworn to aid to the horrors. As she beat her wings as fast as she could manage, she noticed a radiant glow streaking from the Beacon of the Radiant Eye. She heard the baying screams of the Emperors as the Lightweaver herself descended to slaughter the abominations her flesh had wrought, but still she fled. She felt in her heart of hearts she could never return to the place she had abandoned, and flew until she saw the vibrant green of the Viridian Labyrinth. Many years passed, as Caramel lived in solitude in the verdant jungle, wallowing in what in her eyes was her ultimate failure. However, one day, one not anymore special or different than the others, her grief was interrupted by a young pair of dragons. A silent looming guardian and a swift lively mirror stumbled upon her den in the midst of a hunt for food supplies. Shocked at the sight of such a large and radiant dragon living alone in a dark lair, the guardian slowly approached and asked why she lurked in such a gloomy and lonely place. Caramel's heart couldn't bear telling them of her ultimate failure, but the worried tone to the guardian's rumbling voice moved her to tell them that despite her centuries of wisdom and guidance, she had failed many dear to her, and she could not bear to live on in happiness while they had died miserably and alone. The guardian watched her silently after this admittance, and softly asked if Caramel would return with them. She reasoned that, yes, Caramel may have made a mistake, but that did not mean she could not aid others to try and live for those that had died. Caramel, unable to find any words to rebut this, slowly followed the pair back to their fledgling clan, and slowly started to teach them the old ways of dragonkind. Not too long after her admittance into the clan, the clan matriarch, the guardian that had swayed Caramel's broken heart, appointed her as her trusted Advisor. Caramel is the one all go to ask for advice on anything and everything, and she aids them best she can, for they are her new family now, and nobody will take them from her this time. |
