Biography
Issuing Due Respects
Dominance, a mechanic measured primarily by a ratio of exalts to active members in a given flight. It's not a requirement at all to participate - partaking in exaltation is entirely up to any given individual. Some people spend sweeps of treasure acquiring the lowest-priced dragons on the Auction House to help their flight, while others will spend sweeps rescuing dragons from such fate.
Alas, fate can be inevitable. Sometimes, a dragon finds its purpose and self-fulfillment from serving one of the Eleven, and there's not much else that can be done after that. Fodder is what we've dubbed these dragons, though it doesn't always have to be viewed that way.
By site canon, the act of exalting a dragon is the highest honor one can bestow upon an individual. Any dragon can be marked for exalt, from newborns to elders. There are numerous different ways to write this into one's own lore, from hatching under a certain constellation to being chosen by an oracle or priest, or even by conscious decision.
Sometimes, I do feel guilty about swooping in for cheap dragons. I do scope out profiles and bios on the occasion, though that act is usually reserved for dragons above fodder-swoop price (~5000t); they tend to go fast. Per site rules, any dragon purchased via the AH is purely the buyer's, and they can do as they wish with it. Even so, there's always a small twinge of guilt over the off-chance someone gets upset about the dragon becoming fodder.
In my lore, exalts are not very uncommon. Dolasir acts as a confidant for all incoming dragons, guiding them through their decisions with patience and respect. Largely, choosing to serve the Arcanist is the main way dragons will be exalted. Other times, in the case I am not confident in selling a hatch for too much or too swiftly, they are marked at birth. Whichever way they end up exalts, they're leveled in either the Kelp Beds or Mire by one of my trainers. This nets me between 11k and 16k per dragon, far above fodder price and at a fairly small portion of time spent on my end.
Speaking of profits, I began tracking how much I spent and made off of dragon sales and exalts at the end of March '21. A majority of my profits are from exalts, though I've stepped back from swooping and training since I'm running out of hibden space. The quests aren't incredibly difficult to complete, but I'm saving up for lair expansions and the last nest, so the less astronomical prices I pay for completing the quests, the better. I've also began some breeding projects to hopefully market at decent prices to further finance gene and expansion projects.
This has gotten quite rambly. If you're still reading this for some reason, thank you for your time. The main point in writing this was to remind myself about some prose I could create in AH fodder bios, but I'm not sure if I'll follow through.

Exalting Kalira to the service of the Arcanist will remove them from your lair forever. They will leave behind a small sum of riches that they have accumulated. This action is irreversible.
