Biography

 There are many questions to be had behind the doors of the Mondire Court's castle, but the most puzzling one by far comes in the form of a hatchling that you may never see no matter how often you visit. They are a closely guarded secret, found years ago on their own in the depths of the Tangled Woods by the court's false queen Anora. She found the small being crying for it's mother, and fearing for it's safety she brought them back to the castle and was carefully tending to them as though they were her own hatchling. Though as soon as the two were visited by one of the court's doctors, they sensed the magic of something old, powerful and dare they say holy. Vicar had discovered that Anora's act of kindness had actually saved a small deity. She was of course shocked at the idea but the small god had already adopted her as their own new mother due to the lack of parents already. Speaking only in chirps and squeaks to everyone the small one could not be understood by anyone aside from the false queen, who introduced their new deity of the court as Remnant. Besides the beloved Plaguebringer adored by the dragons of the court, those of higher status had rejected the gods of Sornieth a long time ago and went on without loyalty to any of them. But upon being introduced to the Skydancer with an elder god's blood both Imenand and Aethelweard swore their loyalty to them. The lords offered to house Remnant in the Mondirewick Castle for it's own safety, after all it would not do to lose their new god when they had just arrived to the court. But something about the hatchling gave the impression that they wouldn't be able to stop Remnant if it wished to leave, luckily for them they did not wish to and accepted a room locked deep into the castle; he only accepted this on the condition of being able to spend time with their mother however. Anora was more than happy to accept her extra role and still holds it to this day, even though after some time acting as it's mother it made her lose her sight entirely when she tried to comfort them, and looked into horrors that no one should ever see. |

Remnant has stayed in the castle mostly without complaint since they arrived, Anora will always hear the complaints of a bored child wanting to play outside or play with other children, but it is simply too much of a risk to allow Remnant to interact with normal children. So they listen reluctantly at least, and do well to keep their holy power a secret to the lower members of the court. Everyone at least vaguely knows of the hatchling's existence as they follow the queen around the castle or climb on the two lords for fun, but the lower members dare not question anything further for fear of losing their nobility or worse. As much as Remnant would love for their mother to always be available Anora still attends to her duties as 'queen', even despite the childish huffing of the small hatchling. They're not necessarily a handful but they are more easily irritable when separated from their mother for long periods of time, when Vicar was babysitting them he noted this and was concerned. He tried to make it clear that it is within the best interest of everyone to keep any kind of troubling news over their queen from the hatchling, thankfully so far nothing has happened and nobody wants to know what Remnant would do otherwise. Things took an interesting turn when something else of holy origin arrived, an angel damaged by unknown causes was brought into the castle by the queen, and Remnant immediately became curious. There is an air about her alike to something that is ethereal and if her appearance wasn't enough to confirm this then Remnant's calmness around her does it enough. Sariel as she is called is used as a secondary mother in the place of Anora while she is gone, and she has worked wonders with the tiny god as another parent; even going so far as to bring the god with her when she goes to see the queen. Remnant likes her but their adoration is still mostly centered around Anora, and at least that's something both holy beings have in common. Remnant more or less lives happily with their small family, including the addition of a 'older sister' that also comes to look after them sometimes, and they don't blind her! It's a miracle that they very much enjoy. A new playmate also appeared out of nowhere, and seems to be the only one who has any kind of idea of who Remnant really is, and it adores them. Moon may well be the closest thing the god could ever have to a mate, even if they always disappear at sunrise. Everyone knows it is best to keep the hatchling happy above all else, or else the castle and all who live there may suffer awful consequences. More or less they have been happy though with their life in the castle, but Remnant feels something odd on the horizon ahead and it looks out the window often. They look on with an expression that is seemingly getting steadily more uncertain and disturbed, maybe even angry and they won't tell anyone why, but for now they are at least quick to let it go. For now. |
