PRESCOTT
the tidemaker Once a water dragon exploring Sornieth, Prescott is now a spirit who has lost his body entirely. He died in the Southern Icefields and haunted the spot of his death for years, waiting for the rest of his expedition members to come back for him; he's convinced that they'd forgotten him. He thinks that he died of hypothermia, and that they will be back to give him a proper burial, but the expedition itself was ill-fated and ended badly for the remaining members, who in fact poisoned him due to a lack of supplies. They would have returned to eat him, had they not met their untimely but ultimately well-deserved ends in a sudden snowstorm, which he tried to warn them of. His body is tied to a crystal now, his soul merged with a denizen of the waters. The crystal came into Sesca's care, and is a curiosity to those who pass by her shop in the Sunship. She came across him on an expedition of her own, and had to forcibly remove him from that spot. He had a hard time coming to terms with the truth of his death, and the fact that no one would be looking for him, but she gave him a more corporeal body and a job on her ship while they travelled. He uses his Tidemaker abilities to fuel the engines. He is perpetually cold and shivering, and will gladly take a cup of jasmine tea if offered, but prefers more earthy and hearty blends. He accumulated a collection of dried flowers while in Sesca's care, unable to have a proper garden in his quarters on the ship. His intangible form is still triggered if someone talks about his death, and he'll disappear back into the crystal. While he was reluctant to leave the Sunship, he met Funkyboi, a Fae 'jewel thief' trying to haggle with Sesca. It was a failed attempt, and he had to escort her out, but they did get to talking. Charmed despite himself and aware of Sesca's desire to return to the Icefields, he accepted her request to help her sail on home after a long (and kind of fruitless) quest to the desert. When there, he decided to stay, making a small home for himself near the shores of a tropical-esque beach where it's always warm. Although he's managed to get better, he still has nightmares about the expedition and about being stuck alone in the Icefield forever. He's skittish and cowardly, he often shies away from conflict, rarely arguing with anyone. This tends to get him into trouble with the louder dragons, but he's slowly getting better at defending himself- or at avoiding them entirely. He dislikes retreating into his crystal, and is somewhat scared that one day he'll do so and never be able to come out again. layout by Ninette |
