As a hatchling, Aegaeon was a member of Le Cirque des Rêves clan. His parents, Dax and Marina, were warriors and true guardians of their people. They would often accompany the clan matriarch to her meetings as diplomats, and Aegaeon would watch them represent their leader with skill and grace. He looked up to them and learned as much as he could, aspiring to find a worthy charge of his own.

One day when Aegaeon was shopping in the market, he bumped into an interesting tundra named Orin. While helping to pick up the tundra's supplies, he learned that Orin and his mate Arike were building a ship so that they could fulfill their dreams of adventure. Aegaeon offered to carry the poor tun's supplies back to his camp as he was clearly struggling with the load. The more he talked with Orin, the more fascinated he became with his tales of new, exciting lands and the dragons within them. He continued to visit Orin over the following weeks, helping him with the heavy lifting and staying for dinner and stories afterward. He told his parents about his new friends and that they might just be the charges he was looking for. Though sad to see him leave their clan, his parents were pleased he had found his calling and encouraged him to follow his new fluffy friends on their quest for adventure. Soon after, he bid his parents and beloved Cirque goodbye as he joined the Aurora Clan and set sail.

Aegaeon became indispensable to the Aurora clan. He trained under their weapons master, Erebos, until he became one of the strongest warriors on the ship and one of their most trusted trainers to the younglings. When the clan split under different captains, he stayed with his cherished friend Orin as his personal guard in the Cobalt Crew. His partner in crime combat, Llyr, is almost always seen by his side. The two guardians are inseparable and spend their days close to Orin's side or patrolling the fleet.
