‘Fionnlagh’ Merle’s voice echoes throughout the lair. she could sense that the young maleficar was up to something. something old was settling in the upper tiers where he resided, it’s magic felt dusty and shaded, most unlike his bleaching blinding light.

she doesn’t have to move to find him, thankfully. her colossal form would destroy the entire lair if she willed it. the old Guardian simply raises her head up out of the Abyss in which she resided, past all of the carved lower levels of the lair until finally she comes to a stop, one enormous eye on par with Fionnlagh’s entire body.

before him is a font of deep red liquid, hissing and bubbling at the rims, old and new all at once.

blood magic again.

that’s when she saw the sigils all over the walls, a recent addition to his section of the lair.

she corrected herself, a blood magic summoning ritual.

‘i would appreciate it if in future you informed me before you invited someone into my home’ she rumbles, the lair shaking all around them.

‘go back to sleep Merle, this doesn’t concern you’ he snaps back, talons still grasping browned parchment he’d no doubt stolen from either Cassiopeia or Rutland.

‘everything in this lair is of concern to me boy’

‘i know what i’m doing’

‘allegedly. just try not to summon anything bigger than me.’

he waves her off, seemingly ignoring her vague threats.

‘just go back to sleep you old bat’

her roar is deafening.
