Bogsneaks of the Spineback Slug subspecies retain some of the ooze from their transformation, producing a very fine mucus between their scales, leaving a scent trail almost indistinguishable to other dragons. Due to this, Spinebacks are always able to find their way home and rarely get lost. Dragons of the spineback slug subspecies tend to be nocturnal, preferring dark, moist habitats. They can commonly be found along mossy shores, piles of kelp mulch, or burrowed in fallen

While they can go out in daylight, extended exposure will start to dry out their mucus, causing significant discomfort and pain for Spinebacks. Being omnivorous, their preferred diet consists of carrion and fungi. Spinebacks, like most Bogsneaks, are rather solitary creatures, preferring to keep to themselves rather than trying to maintain multiple inter-draconic relationships. While not intentionally rude, they often disregard norms and customs in favor of practicality. As such, Spineback Slugs do not make very good diplomats or ambassadors.
