He's getting a second chance

Letdown didn't know why he was given his name, nor who gave it to him. He only knew that he was meant for greatness, or so the talking bird he'd travelled with since birth had told him. However, greatness is hard to come by when you're a scraggly young nocturne without a family. Letdown soon fell into a small travelling clan of dragons. His name gathered raised eyebrows, and his brightly gleaming scales a few snickers, but they accepted him all the same. In only a few weeks he learned the ways of the clan and their mission; to train willing young dragons to fight and serve a mysterious entity they called 'Mother'.

Letdown had no interest in fighting, and showed no real aptitude at it. He soon found another interest however; storytelling. He could devour the few books that the clan carried in only hours, and retell the stories within with passion and force. His speaking captivated the audience, even the unsociable wildclaw and birdbrained coatl. He became popular with the clan for his talent, and started to make friends.

Perhaps he could find greatness with them. The talking bird thought so.
