The quartz-paved streets bustle with the daily frenzy, the bright glow of the sun reflecting off the golden city in an almost heavenly manner. The clash and clank of battling trainees fills the air as you pass by the Garrison, and the smell of freshly baked goods wafts towards you as you pad past the bakery, the lovely scent of the pastries almost making up for the horrid condition of the crowd pushing you from all directions. You made the... unfortunate decision of rushing out to the main square during one of the busiest times of the day. Desperate to escape the crowd, you scurry through the busy streets of Sanctuary, soon finding yourself at the steps of a colossal temple-esque building. Pushing the pink-tinged oak doors open, you come face to face with an impressive collection of books and manuscripts. The walls and shelves are lined with these precious artifacts, the dim glow of the pink arcanic candles providing an almost mystical aura. Tentatively stepping inside the beautiful library, you sweep your gaze across the room, taking in the sights. As you walk around and examine the works, you hear a creak coming from behind you. Whipping around, you find yourself staring into the gaze of a Nightfall Imp. The Imp itself was hardly startled, still maintaining a hold on the tomes it carried. The same, however, could not be said for you, who in a moment of fright had nearly toppled over a bookshelf. A light chuckle sweeps through the library, and you realize with a start that it did not come from the Imp in front of you. A dark figure emerges from one of the dimly lit corridors, a trail of candles following close behind. Too terrified to move you watch in horror as the figure comes closer, and closer, before stepping into the light - and revealing the kind and amused face of the city's Lorekeeper. You mentally punch yourself for being terrified of her of all dragons. The raspy voice of the Lorekeeper interrupts the slightly awkward silence. "I am aware that you have only entered this sacred place to escape the crowd. Why did you ever think it would be a good idea to come out at this hour?" Failing at repressing another chuckle, the Lorekeeper continued. "Well, it will certainly take a while for the rush to slow down, so why don't you take a look around? I'm sure you would rather read about some epic battle or hero rather than listen to the tales of an old hag!" The toothy grin present on the Lorekeeper's face remained as she walked away, the Imp returning to its duties. You wander around aimlessly, soon finding yourself at the entrance of a corridor. A sigh hung on the wall, engraved with the letters 'Exodus'. Intrigued by the title, you continue within. |
