The High Pythoness
Phrike was one of the first few dragons to arrive after Palaestra discovered the Maniae caves, and she was quick to ingratiate herself with the Guardian. It is said that she communes with spirits, and together with her partner, Hephaestus, who can read the future the spread of bones on the ground, she directed the excavation and development of the cave system until the Dreamer arrived. Since losing her significance, she has slowly become more deranged.

Now she maintains her position as High Pythoness out of convention, although the conniving Pearlcatcher draws suspicion from all but Palaestra herself. She is always at Palaesra's side, whispering into her ear, and many believe that her control over the Guardian may be more than just advisory in nature.
