The Siren Queen

B I O G R A P H Y

Rosehip was born as the heir to Aurum, chosen over her siblings after much debate from her parents and clan oracles. Even from birth the mages could sense that she had a great deal of Water magic, and more magical power than most dragons in the clan. Rosehip also loved to sing ever since she was a young hatchling, and could charm anyone with her sweet voice. By the time she reached adulthood she learned how to combine the two talents, and could manipulate water through song.

However, while her talents with Water magic and singing are great, she lacks the Tidelord's greatest gift. Despite her great-grandmother and grandfather being strong seers, and her father being able to gleam slight premonitions of the future as well, Rosehip has absolutely no Foresight at all. It is something that embarrasses her greatly, especially given how many of her clanmates have some sort of Foresight. She blames her mother for this, believing that Snickerdoodle's Fire blood muddied her Water progenitor linage.

4th in the line of succession, Rosehip has dreams of becoming clan leader and bringing the Clan of Roaring Waters to a new age of power, prestige, and prosperity. However, with Radiance still healthy and unlikely to step down soon, and with two dragons ahead of her in succession, Rosehip is aware that her inheriting leadership won't happen for a very long time. And Rosehip refuses to be patient. While Rosehip would never wish ill on her family, she is not content to be a pretty little heir distracted by busywork while other dragons make all the decisions. If Rosehip cannot take over a pre-established, already successful clan, she will do the next best thing - she will found her own. And when she does, she will be more than a leader - she will be a Queen.

B I O G R A P H Y

Founding a new clan is not easy, and when Radiance heard what Rosehip was planning she wasted no time in telling the little Fae about the struggles and hardships she, Gleaming, and Thistlepuff faced in founding the Clan of Roaring Waters. While Rosehip is aware of the risks - indeed, she has made careful notes for every story Radiance told her - that hasn't dampened her desire. There is plenty of precedent for a non-progenitor founding a new clan after leaving their old one, and most did not start with the knowledge and resources Rosehip has at her disposal. Rosehip has the benefit of seeing how a successful clan is run, and expects her new clan to trade with the Clan of Roaring Waters extensively for resources and members until it is strong enough to stand on its own.

Though the odds facing her are steep, Rosehip has three aces hidden up her sleeve. One, her magical singing can not only manipulate water, it can also manipulate dragons' emotions - at full power it can even enthrall them, though the enchantment wears off after she stops singing. This Rosehip has managed to keep secret to all but her most trusted retainers. Two, while Rosehip lacks the power to see the future, she knows what true Foresight looks like and what other dragons expect to see. While everyone in the Clan of Roaring Waters knows about Rosehip's lack of Foresight, she can easily fool outsiders with proper use of theatrics and mystique. Her innate Fae instincts help her read her mark's body language, allowing her to deduce their true feelings and desires. Using their body language, the questions they ask, and well-informed knowledge of current events in Sornieth, Rosehip can tell her clients what they expect to or want to hear, and give her predictions a reasonable chance to come true. Three, Rosehip is ambitious, smart, and not afraid to do what it take to achieve her dreams. Rosehip wants to be the Queen of a great and powerful kingdom, and she is prepared to fight, bargain, and lie to get there. Whether she takes over a clan or founds her own, Rosehip is going to go big or go bust.

Rosehip has forged relationships with dragons in the clan who would help her build her new kingdom, or at least would be likely to follow her should she choose to leave and found her own clan. Lyra, a stone scryer, can see visions of the past through contact with rocks, making up for Rosehip's lack of Foresight. Faeriefloss and Valentine act as Rosehip's Eyes and Ears, observing every little detail in the clan and reporting back to Rosehip at night when everyone is asleep. Valentine the Eye has a photographic memory, while Faeriefloss the Ear can perfectly mimic and repeat any phrase she hears. Autumn is Rosehip's personal guard. She found him one day aimlessly wandering across the beaches of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, with no memory of where he had come from or why he was there. Rosehip took him in, promising him a home and a place for him in her clan. In exchange Autumn became her personal bodyguard, always trailing a few steps behind her whenever she travels outside of her corner of the lair.
