Biography
Heirloom
Property of Asphodel Foundation (Security system) Non-dragon (Stature) Featured plant: Tagetes lucida (sweetscented marigold) |
Form what Etaoin knew, Heirloom predated her in Clan Linotype. This central piece of security system was brought there by a member who married into the clan. Many past technicians added their own upgrade onto it, but kept the main structure intact.
Etaoin was more of an end user. For something that only activated when enemy intruded their territory, all she could see was a decorated Guardian statue standing at the entrance.
When she finally got back to the land of living, Etaoin was devastated to see the abandoned scenery. For a moment she thought her clan had fallen to the claws of an enemy Nature clan, hence the overgrowth covering the buildings.
It wasn’t the case. The vault and other rooms were cleaned out without rummage, and the plants were simply occupying the vacant places. Her clanmates moved out willingly. Heirloom wasn’t brought with them this time. It stood guard at the usual spot, dust and flowers settled on the peaceful statue.
Etaoin would’ve move on, maybe to the other side of that library, or to some other clan, had she not noticed one concrete sign of intrusion. There was a path between the tall grasses that was clearly made with a sickle recently. The path standing right in front of her when she woke up at the ancestor’s shrine. The letters she received in the library were on the gravestone, in loose paper form. Similar piles were also on other’s graves.
Every day, Etaoin would wait at the front gate of Clan Linotype. She had done some thinking, and preparations. Heirloom was disconnected with the system for easy moving once she decided on the location of her new home. Its service shouldn’t end here.
However, there was one more business to take care of before leaving. Finally, one night, a wagon stopped at the gate. A Shadow Tundra climbed down of the wagon with a piece of paper in hand. She raised an eyebrow at the ethereal Skydancer priest.
“I have been waiting for you,” Etaoin said, then did a formal bow. “To show my gratitude.”
