All dragons hoard in some way, whether it be gems and gold or friends or memories. Eriu takes collecting and hoarding to an extreme. Even though her birth flight is Ice, she is the biggest fan of all the dragon deities and it shows. She collects everything related to them, from plushes, statues, vases, and effigies to small knick knacks from other lands. Her position was once as a scout under the leadership of the fae Nimbus and it lent efficiency to her hobby. While she no longer travels far and wide into the territories of other flights seeking treasures and knowledge, she has a wealth of knowledge to share with younger generations of dragons. Part of Eriu's nostalgic nature is greatly related to her breed's predisposition to forget. She doesn't like to forget things, only half-remembering someone or something because of a familiar scent. She is still not too great with names, but she always remembers a face, and because of her rampant need to collect things, remembers all of the dragon gods and their elements and powers. On top of those things, she always attempts to take a souvenir of some kind from her travels, or trades for a small trinket when she makes a friend--that way she always has an object to remember them by. Every piece of her hoard has a story, and she loves to tell visitors and hatchlings the stories behind things to keep her memory sharp. Eriu is a calm sort of dragon, as tundras usually are, and many find her company to be relaxing. Even her excitement is tempered with serenity and some come to listen to her tell stories just for the sake of the effect she has upon them. She can talk at length for hours about her former travels and the characters she's met in the past. No one speaks of anything with enthusiasm the way she does, and its endearing even to the more stoic and severe members of the Clan. As a strange sort of gift, Eriu seems to have something akin to foresight, which is not strong enough a talent for her to be a seer of any kind. She goes with her gut and most often has very strong feelings about choices and actions, but nothing is clear and nothing is certain. It is this talent that she uses to help young hatchlings learn their lots in life and has found her place within the nursery of the Clan. Alongside Awa, who cares for the eggs of the Clan's warrior and scouting parents, Eriu nurtures the hatchlings once they come into the world and teaches them how to read, write, hunt, and take their first flights. Because of her little knowledge about everything, she can help a hatchling feel out their interests and help find their future calling, even if that means taking the path of the Exalted. Eriu often misses her former freedom to take journeys into the unknown, and can be often found staring wistfully over the frozen lands of the Southern Icefields, but she knows her place is better served with her Clan's hatchlings now. It is because of those intrepid journeys she once took that she must now stay confined to the Lair. A sentinel from the Ashfall Wastes mistook her for a soldier and injured her right wing, making flight laborious and difficult for her. |
