Kyra tumblr_inline_nvcxkdxokg1r7qfkn_75sq.pngooo

♀ | ARIES | THE BEAST TAMER
73QLilc.png
o Kyra was born into the light flight full of energy, and with a hunger for enlightenment. As a young guardian she was restless and rambunctious, and a nasty chore to tame. Her peers found her demeanor unnerving for an acolight, and at points, potentially dangerous even. Her fiery soul was full of passion and instead of books and scrolls, she sought adventures, and danger. The many pieces of parchment her flight-mates bestowed upon her would sit, collecting dust, as the reckless bundle of scales would leave her lair to brunt the forces of nature head on. Scaling cliffs, prodding tidepools, disturbing beastclan nests.. You name it, she's tried it, much to her peers' disdain.

The day her childhood friend proposed to her, however, was the day her life changed for good. Prompted by the local clans to do so, the desperate tundra pleaded with Kyra to forget about her adventures, and settle down with him to form a Clan. Kyra adamantly refused, enraged by his betrayal. This was the same dragon that had promised to never get in the way of her dreams, or hold her down. He swore it, and Kyra couldn't forgive him.

So she left. Untrusting and embittered by the ways of the acolights, she travelled the lands of Sornieth on her own for years. Afraid her search as a guardian might end, she avoided villages for many months, surviving solely off the venues of the land to feed her stomach.

Much to her surprise, however, dragons in other lands could be quite welcoming, and eventually, she opened her heart to a few. The world was so, so vast, and the dragons in it equally so. Kyra quickly made many new friends, and some even decided to travel with her. There was so many cultures for her to learn from, and so many things for her to try. Kyra was exhilarated. Her journey as an acolight had finally started. From this point on, she could finally find her own unique enlightenment.

--

In the end, Kyra and a few of her new friends settled in the trees. Enthralled by the wonders of the nature, and the wild lands surrounding the behemoth, they decided this would be their permanent home. A home where they could be more nurturing and accepting of each other, without shame. Kyra felt true joy, that day. She was finally ready to start a clan.

--

It's here, amongst the trees, that Kyra met her two best friends to date: Ziavenna, and Lezaro. They were blossoming warriors, fighting side-by-side amidst the raging war with the beast clans. Kyra was immediately enraptured with their power. The moment she saw them, she knew they were fated to meet. Her world seemed to shift around them, so she approached, and quickly discovered the reason why.

Lezaro was to be her charge.. And her, his. Lives altered by this fact, both soldiers agreed to join Kyra's clan, but the change was impossible for her to take. Being restricted to a single dragon had immediate drawbacks for the young leader. She could not be at his side for most ventures, and physically couldn't handle all the time they spent apart. By the time he returned home most days her scales felt like they were burning off.

At the same time, however, she needed to be away from him. Being bound to another soul conflicted with everything she was as a being. She needed, and wanted, to spread her wings on her own.

Lezaro, thoughtful of her feelings, made a suggestion, and together the pair sought help from the only dragon that could help their case, Gladekeeper. Drawn to the hope that she might one day answer their pleas, they prayed to her every night. This went on for weeks, months even, but they were only answered with silence.

Lezaro, deeply in love with his charge, and unable to stand the sight of her in pain, set off to war in a final act of desperation. He would die in battle to set Kyra free. Panicked, Kyra rushed out into the forest after him, sending silent prayers to Gladekeeper as she ran. She was ready to sacrifice anything to change their fate.

Little did she know her prayers had worked.

Gladekeeper, moved by the pair's determination, appeared before the guardian and offered a solution. She would save Lezaro from death and grant the pair the ability to change their forms, severing their bonds for good. But it came at a price.

If they chose to go down this path they would both inherit a great burden. Never again would they be capable of romantic love for each other, or any other dragon they came across, for the rest of their lives. But both Kyra and Lezaro were willing to pay that price. If it meant they could save each other, that's all that mattered.

Kyra was the first to change, discarding her towering wingspan and proud frills for soft tufts of fur and a foggy memory. Her previous mate, Lezaro, was healed of his wounds and given his feathers in place of his scales, and brittle bones to make for easier flight. Their new bodies were hard to adjust to at first, but with time they became even better versions of themselves. It felt right to them, and now both Kyra and Lezaro are ever-blossoming into more enlightened dragons than before.

Kyra may have lost her love, but she does still give and receive love in many ways, and there isn't a single moment where she regrets the choice she made.

--

Kyra now has an adoring way with animals and other species. She serves her clan well as a translator and as a beast tamer, as well as an overly-clumsy and excitable leader. She's excellent at translating, be it between faes and coatls, or the birds and the bees. Her memory isn't the best, but she makes friends with almost everyone she meets, and though she forgets some, she's happy to re-aqcuaint with them all over again if she needs to.
