Biography

Character sketch example
57534967p.png A general, a dictator, a mediator, a godling... many have tried to label Inferno, to cram her fiery scales and armor into cages of words, but no descriptor comes as close as powerful, or even dangerous, depending on which side of her flashing trident you find yourself on. She regulates her Outpost with ruthless efficiency, no stranger to threats or violence. Her lieutenants, Smolder and Glow, seem to be around every corner, dripping fangs bared against her enemies.
Despite Inferno's authoritarian rule, or perhaps because of it, the First Outpost has thrived. The General has turned back the onslaughts of the Shade, infiltrators, and bandits through her magicks of fire and a fierce, unnatural strength that coils her muscles into iron and her teeth to steel. It would be child's play to turn on Trinka's mission of reunion with Stellon, to convert her Outpost into an empire guided by her unyielding claws. But Inferno would never do such a thing. Although centuries bar her from her past life, Inferno remains true to how she stood on the day of the Gaoler invasion; a dragon loyal until the end, even as the fangs of death snap shut around her and her allies.

Character portrait example
57534967p.png The world is never hot enough for Inferno. When she dips her head beneath rippling lava and her horns soften, melt even, she sighs softly, and then shivers. It is not enough. She tries to warm herself with memories of her past life. She wraps her soul in ancient fires and young volcanoes. But those are not enough either. They merely fool her for a little while. Even Inferno’s own magic is no use. She can cast Sear upon her own scales, watch the flames roar up her spines and coat her claws, but the attack only makes her colder, like she’s feeding the ice within her.
It is only when Inferno reaches with her mind, grasping for the presence of her goddess, her queen, that she feels warm again. In these moments, Inferno allows herself to be indulgent; as she speaks with the Flamecaller, she slows her words, lengthens her thoughtful pauses, just to allow that honey-sweet warmth drip and soak into her bones. She aches for it. And when she feels the furnace of the Flamecaller's awareness leave her, she tightens her jaw and fastens her helmet to her skull. Those are the saddest moments for Inferno. Even the death of another dragon does not rattle her in the same way. All beings must one day die… but must the world lose its light? Must it be shrouded in darkness and ice? She grows apocalyptic when the Flamecaller leaves her. She imagines the ice overtaking her and then spreading to the rest of the Ashfall Waste, halting the forges, silencing the volcanoes. That is why she gasps when the Flamecaller severs the connection. That is why she clutches at her stomach. That is why tears spring to her eyes.
When the coldness starts, it is but a small seed of ice in her belly, a reminder. Then, the frigidness grows and blossoms in her mouth, making her teeth throb. Slowly, Inferno's joints slow, stiffen, and it becomes nearly impossible to move. By the time her eyes glaze over, she's already bathing in lava or conferring with her Mother. The ice withers and curls up in Inferno’s abdomen, waiting. She wonders what would happen if she simply allowed the cold feeling to overtake her. Naturally, she assumes she would return to the black oblivion of death. She chooses to swim in lava.
Because of this, Inferno can't help her lack of pretense. She must not spare any warmth for another dragon, even when it's simply warm words. Dragons whisper of her rudeness, her authoritarian nature, but she is beyond caring. The ice has reached her soul, it seems.
While her inclination to cut kindness is a flaw, it is also her greatest strength. She regards dragons without emotion, threatens them without blinking. Through sheer force of personality, she bends dragons to her will, a metallurgist of the gods’ children. Whatever will improve her Outpost, whatever will hasten Trinka's Search, she will do it. She is relentless. She is loyal. She will end the Search.
But, gods above, she is cold.
