It's a well known fact dragons have a weakness for shiny things.
For centuries they have been hoarding gold, gems and every imaginable other treasure out there.

It shouldn't hit you by surprise when some venture out to seek out these fortunes.
It's your average story really, some dragons, out scavenging, hoarding as much as they can before hauling it all the way back home.
And that's exactly what these two did.
Little did they know there was a little surprise waiting for them...

''It's true!'' the one with gems adorning his wings hissed, as he proudly revealed the dark rock, beautifully accented with a blue-ish tint so vivid it seemed to be glowing.
The others stared in awe. The two were right, this, this had to be the biggest gem they had ever seen, mostly covered with dirt but oh; it was going to look even more stunning after they got this baby cleaned up.
Nothing could've woke them up from their reverie if it wasn't for one particular perceptive coatl.

''...Is it supposed to move?''

''What?''

''It has eyes too!'' another dragon chimed in.


Yes- No it was certainly moving...

Two big, bright, blue eyes now looked up to the little crowd that had gathered around him.
A little yawn escaped the hatchling's mouth and he looked amazed by all the attention he was getting.
The little thing was so entertained it rolled over his back a few times, as well as clumsily tripping over it's own feet as he was hopping around.

''Now, that truly is a gem'' Another one laughed.

Well, he was sure he was going to have to hear this story another hundred times, the coatl thought to himself, giving the happy little thing another look.
At least it was safe now.... Maybe some real diamonds next time.


He was about to turn around until the hatchling tumbled his way.
Huh?




A smile appeared on his face as the little thing dropped it from his mouth.
''Thanks, buddy''
The little one didn't seem to understand him, but seemed to appreciate the pat on the head nonetheless.



And older Tundra watched the scene from a little distance, a Fae keeping him company.
He sighed. What a shame for such a young one to get left behind like that.
It was a bittersweet feeling but he couldn't help but to smile at the little one's clumsiness.
