Named for Sir Ernest Shackleton, the famed polar explorer and a role model for leadership as one who, in extreme circumstances, kept his team together to survive the Antarctic. And, for the Frigid Fugitive Shackles.. shackles, Shackleton.. you get it. :)

Journal
12/29/16: I survived the Isolation Drift! With meager rations I was set adrift on a small ice floe, then pushed out into the open sea. A fast current quickly took me. My claws dug in to keep from slipping into the dark cold sea. As I watched the shore disappear my parents trumpeted loudly.

Alone and drifting I would survive, seeking insight and searching the waters or icy mists for a guiding vision OR I would cross over into Exalt. But, but... visions did come! The freezing mist parted and standing before me was a strong ice-marked female sparkling in golden sunlight. When I reached for her she swirled into thin air. Fragments of many journeys flashed -- a frozen volcano, fire and ice -- a strange land of giant trees -- oh! Crossing so many ice fields!

Then, I awoke. A week I drifted, the recovery team told me. Hungry and barely hanging on to the melting floe, I was pulled ashore by the waiting clan and fed bites of warm seal meat. "EAT UP!" they clamored, "You must regain your strength and pack. You have been called to The Beacon." Indeed.
