⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ FLEECE ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ Team Lead ⚜ ⚜ ⚜ Hailing from a small but wealthy Light clan that still resides in the bustling Terraclae, Fleece understands the nuances of the market and the stock inherent in network connections. She apprenticed under her own mother to learn the management of a gem mine, and when she felt she learned enough, turned to her grandfather to learn the local history. Highly ambitious and highly studious of practical trade, she sought to learn all she could of the ancient quarry. She was unafraid to reach out to other clans, some rivals to her own family, and create at least neutral relationships. Unwavering in her stance, even the hostile leaders would eventually (though grumbling so) allow her entrance and discussion. She respected their customs and never questioned their business, unlike her outspoken and self-righteous father. Fleece was a fluid player in the Terraclae's economy, and she built her business on the principals of inter-clan trade--nobleness and respect. She was an independent broker, emphasis on the independent. Unlike the custom of the region, or at least the expectations of her clan, Fleece kept her business unaffiliated with anyone or any clan, especially her own. Her clan expected their business to be priority: if they requested her assistance, she would attend to them before any other customer. She fought tooth and nail against these notions, and for a time, the neighborhood was abuzz with the news that Fleece banned her own family from her shop. This ban eventually was lifted, and her clan accepted her terms, but it's still a well-enjoyed story, particularly the part where Fleece called in a favor from an outside clan to assist her in throwing out a pester of her own clanmembers who refused to leave her shop. The story gets embellished, but apparently Light magic was involved. Her parents were not in attendance, despite the rumors. Her business was well sought out, and she became one of the top brokers in the city. Though she did most of the work herself, she hired a gaggle of employees at the peak of her career and quickly created a far reaching The events behind the closure of her shop are hushed by most, and the reasons are mainly unknown, but it's agreed to by many that someone conspired to get it closed. Rumors used to fly that it was a group of resentful cousins, and perhaps that is true, but nothing has come of these rumors now that Fleece has left the Terraclae. "Disgusted by the whole affair," dragons used to whisper, but no one can confirm or deny her reason to leave the city she fought to--"rule," her cousins sneered. Ruling Terraclae is impossible, of course, when you are not an influential clan leader, as all citizens of the cave city deeply understand. Fleece was not in line for any such position. Who's to say why the cousins despised her so. Now Fleece lives with the small mining clan of Anouk's. She is one of the main leads that manage their mines and caves. She travels to order any supplies and research materials for their work or personal lives, and she helps sell the findings and gems at the Colonnades of Antiquity and, once in a while, at the Terraclae. She never visits home when she enters Terraclae, but she allows her mother and grandfather to share drinks with her wherever her new clan's business is in the city. Fleece also consistently reaches out to her few and oldest friends in the city. Melville always comes home bouncing with new stories of the wild nights at a Terraclae tavern, where Fleece meets with her old friends for drinks; but no one back home believes these stories--their sulking, serious former-broker singing karaoke for 4 hours straight, sobbing over some piano-man song, and screaming out the tavern windows as dragons fly by?? Impossible. When asked, the only thing she misses from her old life is her side project of being a freelance scribe and recording the local clans' histories. Talking with Qaramel increases this nostalgia, and she occasionally requests to read his recent additions to his scrolls.
