Sundance

Sundance doesn't know why her former clan was the target of a stasis spell. One day she was simply living in her clan, eagerly expecting her first clutch with her mate Lelantos- and the next, she was waking up to a ruined nest, a destroyed clan, her mate and one hatchling missing while the other died coming out of the egg.

She stayed in the ruins for several days. She buried the dead she could manage to dig graves for. Distraught, she gathered up the remains of her old life- a few books, a trinket or two. With her few possessions in hand she set out to find her family.

Her journey took her over a strange new Sornieth- colors and patterns she had never seen on dragon hide, strange clothing and items, jokes and history she had never heard. She soaked it up like a sponge as she traveled. Along the way she made a little money, enough to keep her fed, by translating old documents and books into modern Draconic. What dragons of this time called "old" was written the day she hatched, and things they deemed "ancient" were scrolls she had grown up reading. Their almost-foreign language was as familiar and comfortable as the nest she had hatched in. Several clans asked her to stay, to contribute her skills to them, but she always refused. She had to know what happened to Lelantos.

She eventually came to a clan far North, in Nature's territory, following a client's request to come and translate an old work. She reported to the clan leader, and was directed to the grumpy Wildclaw who ran the library-

Only to be tackled out of the sky by Lelantos himself.

It was a tearful, joyful reunion- Lelantos and his half-brother Harlo were alive, and so was her daughter, who her mate had named Windsong. She had been slower to come out of the spell than they, and in his panic Lelantos had thought her dead and fled. But now, together again, they are both happier than they could have dreamed. They spend their days together in the library- Lelantos tending and cleaning the stacks, Sundance up to her frills in ancient texts, passing on stories to the new generation of dragons that surround them.

Even with Ichiyo grousing in the background, the library has never been a happier place.
