Biography

Pardon the mess. This is quite the dump of ideas and unedited words.

Do you ever think about what you don't know? I suppose you wouldn't have much to think about, since you don't know what you don't know. A bit cliche but still a great pain. All those details you never picked up on—those wrong choices, and the good things you missed.

It's like you need someone to guide and point out your life. Someone like an oracle. An oracle like Ivette. Wise, powerful, knowing Ivette. Appearing just when she is needed to save some hapless dragon from their impending doom or reveal what's in front of them yet can't seem to see. So many dragons owe their stories to her. But the thing about being the oracle is, there is nobody available to be the oracle for you.

There was no one to tell her that if she had visited the Flotsam Library one hour later, a book would have been placed on the shelves moments before she browsed that very area. That book was written by a very wise dragon, and on page thirty-two it said something Ivette really needed to hear.

"If it wasn't so common, it would be foolish to put our identities in others. Dragons are complex, unsteady, and prone to change at any whim. Yet ask anyone who they are and they might give you a surname. They might say they are a brother, a mother, or a lover to someone else. They might call themselves stubborn or quiet because that's what everyone else said, or think of themselves as something good in this world because others deemed what they did as good. But it's all so fickle. We've placed something so important in something that we're powerless to retain."

If she had read those words, her story would have turned out very, very differently. That's not to say her life turned out bad by any means, though it has its ups and downs. It just... pales in comparison to what it could have been.

For all her power, an oracle can only see so many uncertain futures. Her revelations are too fragmented to be a complete picture and if you look too much at the future, you forget the present. When you see so much of others, you lose yourself.

An oracle is far from infallible. If you want infallible, you need something like me. WIP
