The Protector
Cares for the boundary between this world and the next

Born to a goddess of the Underworld, and her chosen consort, this young one was surrounded by Death. It was a constant, neverending thing, but exciting. Some think Death is stagnant, still. They think that once you enter Death, everything fades away. But of course, this young one is living proof that this isn’t the case - otherwise, he would never have grown, for one cannot age in a Timeless place. It was here where he made the best of friends, among spirits of the deceased and other unliving beings. He loved to hear the stories of their lives. In fact, growing up under his mother’s careful watch (his father was busy with other matters) ensured that his compassion and enthusiasm thrived, not only for his companions among the Underworld, but also for the wider world of Sorneith.

Upon entering adulthood, his mother encouraged him to travel. And so he did. He left the Underworld and entered the Overworld, assuming his corporeal form as his mother had taught him. It was strange to be here, alone for the first time without the company of spirits, who were ever-present in the Underworld. He had entered Sorneith in a dry area, magic-wise but quickly, he sought the key spots in Sorneith where spirits did gather, and began to feel more at home. He was drawn to a Clan in the northern rainforests, led by a dreamer and a gardener.

When MoonDream and Nutmeg asked his name, he didn’t know how to answer. He had been named in the language of the spirits, which did not translate well into the Common Draconic tongue. So he gave them the name, “Tombkeeper”, with the expressed desire that he stay in the Clan as a warden of the boundaries between this world and his mother’s. It seemed as if the Clan leaders would turn him down, but to his surprise they readily welcomed him. Ever since, Tombkeeper has settled in, happy to switch between the living dragons in his Clan and the spirits in the forest around him.
